I grew my passion for poetry by coming to the United States, and honestly it surprised me. Through my classes here, I learned how to put my emotions on the page in ways I never had before, picking up different techniques and approaches depending on the course. Poetry gave me a new way to process and express things I didn't always have words for and I love it.
This lyrical sequence is still in progress and was written in spring 2026 for my Senior Advanced Poetry class. Under Danielle Dubrasky's supervision, we were tasked with writing 20 poems and shaping them into a lyrical sequence worthy of publication. This one explores the duality of loving where I come from while still resenting parts of it. Between long, straightforward poems and short, abstract ones, this work showcases the range of my abilities in poetry.
